Don’t fall for marketing mind tricks

For most of us, the turn of summer to fall comes with an accompanying urge to prepare for darker, colder days. Retailers take advantage of this and use jedi mind tricks to make us believe that we don’t have what we need for the change of season.

It cracks me up to think about this, because last year we had everything we needed, so why do we need more? I’m not saying there aren’t cases where things may need updating, or that lifestyle changes require us to buy new. Instead, I’m reminding all of us not to believe the influencers, retailers, and marketers who have only their own interests in mind.

Needless to say, I loved discovering the “underconsumption core” trend happening on social media. It’s a hashtag I’d suggest searching if you could use some help resisting the temptation to buy.

I constantly hear from my clients that going through the process of editing and organizing is an incredibly effective way to reduce unnecessary spending. I’m here for you if and when you need me!
